Food Safety 

In regard to food safety/hygiene training, Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs, Chapter XII Annex II Paragraph 1 states that food business operators are to ensure: 
1. That food handlers are supervised and instructed and/or trained in food 
hygiene matters commensurate with their work activity; 
2. That those responsible for the development and maintenance of the procedure referred to in Article 5(1) of this regulation or for the operation of relevant guides have received adequate training in the application of the HACCP principles.   

CIEH Level 2 Awards in Food Safety

These qualifications provide you with the fundamental food hygiene knowledge required for all food handlers.

  • CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
  • CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing
  • CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Retail

You need this qualification if you work in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked or handled.

 CIEH Level 2 Awards in Food Safety (Refresher)

This qualification is designed to refresh your knowledge of food safety. It is recommended you take it three years after completing the Level 2 Awards in Food Safety.

First Aid at Work

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work.These regulations apply to all workplaces, including those with five or fewer employees, and to the self-employed.




 

These qualifications provides you with the skills and knowledge to become a first-aider in  low-risk to high risk work environments.

They can be undertaken as:

  • initial training
  • annual first-aid skills refresher
  • three-yearly requalification

Assessment: practical assessment

Annual First Aid Refresher Requalification

Anyone who has completed a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work course is recommended to take the CIEH Annual First Aid Refresher each year after qualifying.

Fire Safety 

The primary piece of legislation for the management of fire safety in the workplace in England and Wales is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, often referred to as the Fire Safety Order (FSO) which became law in 1 October 2006.

It requires the responsible person (the employer) to appoint and provide adequate training for one or more 'competent persons' to assist with fire safety in the workplace.


 



CIEH Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles

This qualification allows successful candidates to become fire wardens in their workplace.

Designed for: employees who hope to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.)

Duration: one-day programme

Assessment: Multiple choice examination

CIEH Level 2 Award in Environmental Principles and Best Practices 

This qualification has been created to provide an awareness of key environmental concepts and an introduction to environmental management systems.

Who needs this qualification?

All members of staff whose activities could have a significant impact on the environment or supervisors or managers who are being introduced to environmental issues for the first time.

Why is this training important?

Environmental issues impact on every organisation. The rising costs of energy and raw materials, growing awareness of stakeholders and increasing environmental legislation are forcing organisations to address their own environmental performance.

Many organisations have identified that tackling environmental issues can bring benefits to their business including reduced waste and utility costs, reduced liabilities and access to new markets and investors.

CIEH Level 3 Award in Environmental Management

This qualification has been designed to develop the knowledge and understanding of all staff working within an environmental management system (e.g. ISO 14001).

Those with responsibilities within an environmental management system (such as ISO 14001)

Why is this training important?

All organisations have a legal responsibility for the impact that they may have on the environment. This qualification focuses specifically on the practical issues associated with implementing an environmental management system.
